When we speak of apple, we may think of two things. One is the most common fruit we eat, while the other is the famous company Apple. In the past, mobile is still a luxury for the ordinary person. What’s more, owning a fixed phone has already been an extremely proud thing. As the science and technology develops, a series of new phones make their appearance. The new products own more innovative style and more complete function which attract us most. They are much more advantageous than the previous old ones. Recently as the multi touch technology develops at a high speed, companies and businessmen start to combine the technology with phones, which is a great success.
Multi touch is a method of input on a touchscreen that allows two or more fingers to be used on the screen at one time. Apple’s iPhone is famous for introducing multi touch to the cell phone world by using it to allow pinching and stretching gestures on the screen to control zooming. Multi touch is something typically associated with capacitive touchscreen displays rather than with more common resistive touchscreen displays.
As we all know, cellphone nowadays has become the most common thing in our daily life, and even the primary school students own it. Therefore, the ordinary cellphone cannot meet the needs of modern people. Combining cellphones with touchscreen technology is the urgent requirement of the rapid development of era.
When Research in Motion chief executive Thorsten Heins unveiled a prototype of the new BlackBerry 10 phone this week, it lacked a feature that has kept legions of users loyal to the platform: a physical keyboard. At the BlackBerry World expo in Orlando, Florida, he showed off a sleek multi touch device that more closely resembled an iPhone or Android smartphone than the keypad-equipped BlackBerrys of old. While RIM still plans to produce models with keyboards, the demonstration was the biggest signal yet that the company was shifting to a touchscreen world. RIM, which is counting on its redesigned BlackBerry 10 line-up to reverse a sales slump, faces a quandary. Smartphone users have embraced virtual keyboards, evidenced by Apple and Google accounting for more than 80 per cent of the market. Even so, taking away RIM’s physical keypad removes a feature that distinguishes it from the competition. “Some will lament it, but others will embrace it,” said Nigel Hughes, a vice-president in charge of sales at SteelCloud, which builds BlackBerry-compatible security software and hardware for customers such as the US Department of Defence. “It’s a recognition that the future is without a keyboard.” RIM could use a boost. Sales at the Waterloo, Ontario-based company tumbled 25 per cent last quarter, with US revenue plummeting more than 50 per cent. And RIM’s share of the smartphone subscribers shrank to 12 per cent in the period, making it a distant third in the industry, according to ComScore. Google’s Android operating system accounted for 51 per cent of the market, while Apple’s iPhone had 31 per cent. The iPhone’s debut in 2007, followed by Android devices a year later, showed that users were willing to embrace phones without a keyboard. While RIM made a foray into the touch-screen market in 2008 with the BlackBerry Storm, most of its line-up kept the keypads. The Storm was criticised for buggy software and was outsold by the BlackBerry Curve and Bold models, which both feature keyboards. For Mousser Jerbi, a longtime BlackBerry fan, the new prototype’s lack of a keyboard is a deal killer. Jerbi plans to keep his current BlackBerry Bold rather than upgrade to the touch-screen phone. The keyboard makes it easy to tap out emails – something that sets the old BlackBerry apart from a sea of iPhones and Android devices. Jerbi, who runs corporate sales for Groupe Tunisie Telecom, Tunisia’s biggest wireless carrier, is sceptical the new model will catch on with loyalists. Even the name “BlackBerry” evokes the device’s black keys, which resemble seeds.
The new technology has not only been applied to the cellphone market, but also been used in the aerospace industry. It shows strong vitality in our daily life and the society and has been applied to various areas. The following are the latest news about multi touch wall, and let’s have a general knowledge.
DoubleTake Technologies created a large multi-user, touchscreen exhibits at Space Center Houston at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Over 800,000 visitors from all over the world experience this exhibit every year. The wall was designed to provide a fun, educational experience for kids and adults. This first exhibit focused on the first Space Shuttle Mission (sts-1). Future versions will include Space Station and Apollo history.
Combining touchscreen technology with cellphones is not only a great initiative for us, but also greatly broadens our eyes. We benefit from the convenience it brings us, and what’s more, we get a completely new experience from it. Thanks for the infinite creativity and wisdom of human beings so that we can keep updating and creating new things to serve for the whole society and the whole world. And thanks for the Apple company so that we could enjoy the magic electronic products. We know that we have made great achievements, but we still have a long way to go. We should keep on working hard to create better society and better life.

In the last decades, people used to pay all their attention to the development of economy and completely ignore the problem of environmental protection, or even they do not have the concept of the environment. However, with the economy grow at a striking speed, more and more environmental problems draw people’s attention. Thus, we human beings have to take the environment issues into consideration and an increasing number of people, agencies call for environmental protection. The LED fluorescent tubes are developing at the call of green society. It has been widely applied to various areas such as education, entertainment, science, industry, medicine, agriculture and so on. And in modern times, the LED tubes get a full swing and serve well for our daily life and the whole society.
Are LED fluorescent tubes ready for prime time? Light emitting diode (LED) fluorescent tubes begin to catch on with consumers—but do the long-term savings outpace the upfront investment? Light emitting diode (LED) fluorescent tubes are all the rage in the lighting market these days. The technology promises to be more energy efficient, less environmentally harmful and more economical than traditional fluorescent tube lighting. Still, there is a lot of debate over whether they are ready for widespread commercial use. We recently came across an instance in which this very debate was being discussed in a LinkedIn electrical construction group. It was a heated thread with two electrical contractors hashing out the pros and cons of using LED fluorescent tubes. To continue our series of articles on “green” construction, we thought we’d tackle the issue ourselves. So here we present our findings on LED fluorescent tubes. Actually, “LED fluorescent tube” is a misnomer. LED lights and fluorescent lights are completely different technologies. LEDs are very small bulbs illuminated by movement of electrons in a diode. Fluorescent bulbs use electrodes and a gas combination of argon and mercury to produce light.
By numerous improvements the LED tube light makes its appearance. It is common that every little invention has experienced a million times attempt. Only when we are not discouraged by the countless failures, can we make progress and be successful in the end. The LED fluorescent lamps are of course developed like this.
LED fluorescent lamps should also not be confused with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. CFLs use the same technology as fluorescent tubes to produce light, but on a smaller scale. They are a replacement for the incandescent bulbs commonly found in most home light fixtures. CFLs have garnered a lot of press because of their energy efficiency and environmental benefits (i.e., they are considered to be greener than traditional lights because they use less power). An LED tube is made up of hundreds of individual LEDs. They come in a variety of sizes (2, 4 or 6 feet), different temperatures (i.e., different colors of light), and varying arrays of LEDs. They can be purchased with new fixtures, or used for retrofitting existing fixtures. However, they don’t require the ballasts that traditional fluorescents need, so those will need to be removed when replacing fluorescent bulbs with LED tubes
LED fluorescent tubes are developed from the fluorescent tubes and are better than them. The former carries forward the essence of the latter and abandon its shortcomings, so the LED fluorescent tubes have great advantages over the fluorescent tubes. The following article will provide you with extremely detailed knowledge about the two.
To give recognition where it’s due, fluorescent tubes are a great invention. They are four to six times more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs and are said to last 10 to 20 times longer. Of course, they come with their own set of disadvantages, as well. Fluorescent tubes contain mercury and phosphor, which present a number of health and environmental risks. The lights require a ballast, which adds to the cost of the lamp and can cause a buzzing noise. Finally, they frequently flicker, and the light is often drab. Still, LEDs aren’t perfect. The tubes are generally not as bright and can cost more up front. And unfortunately, cost will likely be the number-one driver of greater adoption. The cost of manufacturing LEDs is dropping. Researchers at Purdue University have developed a way to create LEDs using inexpensive, metal-coated silicon wafers instead of expensive sapphire-based bulbs. This discovery has the potential to bring the cost down to levels competitive with fluorescent tubes. And the LED fluorescent replacement makes its appearance nowadays, which is mercury free and energy efficient.
The time is changing and developing without stop, so we should change ourselves and update constantly, or we will be abandoned by the society. One who keeps on studying new things and updating his brain actively, he will walk in front of the times and not be eliminated by the competitive modern society. It is just true to everything. One who stays still, who will fall behind. In order to keep developing, LED fluorescent lamps and LED downlight have to continue to make improvements and adapt to new demands of human beings and the society. And we have enough confidence in LED products’ bright future.

When walking on the streets, you may notice that large numbers of people focus on a small screen. Cellphone has been everywhere in our daily life. We can communicate with families and friends freely with a cellphone no matter where we are. We can do business by using a cellphone to negotiate with partners. It is really a wonderful invention that it greatly changes our life and our society. As we all know, cellphone are originally designed for making phone calls. With the development of science and technology, it is more than a tool for making phone calls. It constantly combines the latest technology such as multi touch with it.
Multi touch is a method of input on a touchscreen that allows two or more fingers to be used on the screen at one time. Apple’s iPhone is famous for introducing multi-touch to the cell phone world by using it to allow pinching and stretching gestures on the screen to control zooming. If there is no innovation, there will be no progress. And if there is no progress, the commercial products may have to be out of the market. If one commercial product stops to absorb new elements, then it will lose the market and be eliminated sooner or later. Although cellphone seems like a magic tool at first, it is inevitably that one day it will be replaced by something new and better if it stops to grow. Therefore, it is a wise choice to combine touchscreen with cellphone, which saves the trouble of pressing keys in urgent conditions. We look forward for its bright future.

We should really appreciate the scientists’ contribution and the science’s progress. With the help of multi touch, our daily lives are full of fun, because we can touch various interesting high technical things by all accesses. For example, we can get to the museum to feel the real experience by touching the screen which applies the multi touch, the very important technology in this society. Now the scientists begin to study on the infrared multi touch, because the infrared overlays are very wide, they cover digital signage, tables and walls because of reliability and cost effectiveness. The scientists take advantages of infrared to promote the development of multi touch.
At DSE 2012 (Digital Signage Expo) held in Las Vegas (March 7th to 8th, 2012), the leading multi touch solutions provider ZaagTech debuted infrared multi touch overlays that are waterproof and dustproof for the first time, solving the long-existing stability challenge for infrared technology and making it possible for infrared multi touch to be applied in a much wider universe. The innovation was showcased as a component of a multi touch table that is only 2 inch in thickness and supports up to 40 true touch points. Exhibitors from ZaagTech impressively demonstrated in the above video clip how resilient the multi touch overlay performs by pouring drinks on to the touchscreen. As it shows the touch panel recognizes multi touch points precisely as usual even after cups of liquid spill.
Seen from the above, it has been known that the infrared multi touch owns the quite precise recognition technology, for the equipments with touchscreen, this function is very important. Or we may cause the appear of wrong or unnecessary information by our careless touch. And this function helps us avoid this trouble.
“Infrared overlays are widely chosen for multi touch kiosks, digital signage, tables and walls because of reliability and cost effectiveness,” explained Olivia Yin, Co-founder and COO at ZaagTech, “but the challenge for the solution is the stability issue: the sophisticated hardware structure and algorithm are sensitive to disturbing obstacles. By introducing a product that performs well in much less perfect environment, ZaagTech solved this long-lasting problem for the first time and we are confident to bring a blast to the industry, eventually making multi touch interaction applicable and realizable in more occasions – now a little drink spill will no longer stop you from playing games on your multi touch bar table.” Besides full range of infrared multi touch overlays, ZaagTech also presented a 3D curved multi touch wall that is 3.8 meters long, which demonstrates the firm’s ability in accomplishing customized projects. As claimed by ZaagTech, such customized multi touch solutions are powered by their proprietary HSIR+ (Hybrid Scattered Infrared Plus) technology, another revolutionary innovation for the multi touch industry.
The successful development of infrared multi touch comes at expense of the sweat and toil of all personnel, indeed, no pain, no gain, all achievements, all good results depend on the contribution of scientists and the progress of science, of course, the infrared multi touch technology is also no exception.
ZaagTech was founded in May 2010 by a team of engineers from Silicon Valley and an MBA from Harvard Business Scool. The company now has 15 patents, 40 engineers, three offices and two production lines. The firm has developed strategic collaboration with China Unicom, LG, Samsung, Mercedes-Benz, etc., and has received multiple governmental awards. ZaagTech has become a recognized brand for product innovation, commitment to quality and technical leadership in the field. “Touching Life, Connecting More”. ZaagTech’s mission is to create high-end multi touch products for use at home and office at the most affordable prices. The team members are enthusiastic in research, development, and production in the multi touch market and the firm achieves results with products that use visually rich, intuitive, and powerful techniques.
It has to be said that it is very fortunate for us to live in this times, we can enjoy the fun and convenience the multi touch brings to us. In addition, we can’t miss the scientists’ efforts, and the very fact of the efforts of such these scientists improves our standard of living and makes our daily lives more convenient and wonderful. All these they do are to promote the human development. In a word, it is hard to imagine if we live in a world that without science, if that is the case, our efficiency will be lowered, our daily lives will lose color.

As is known to us all, new things are always developed in the basis of something old. By deleting something bad, increasing something outstanding and improving constantly, the new product make its appearance. Sometimes we can say that the new product is the upgrading edition of the old one. By updating constantly, our society can make progress continually. The new technology leads us to the electronic society and brings lots of convenience to us which saves us large quantities of time. The new technology develops at a high speed and will continue to move forward. This article will offer you some information about the touchscreen.
Touchscreen monitors have become more and more commonplace as their price has steadily dropped over the past decade. There are three basic systems that are used to recognize a person’s touch:
- Resistive
- Capacitive
- Surface acoustic wave
The resistive system consists of a normal glass panel that is covered with a conductive and a resistive metallic layer. These two layers are held apart by spacers, and a scratch-resistant layer is placed on top of the whole setup. An electrical current runs through the two layers while the monitor is operational. When a user touches the screen, the two layers make contact in that exact spot. In the capacitive system, a layer that stores electrical charge is placed on the glass panel of the monitor. When a user touches the monitor with his or her finger, some of the charge is transferred to the user, so the charge on the capacitive layer decreases. On the monitor of a surface acoustic, two transducers (one receiving and one sending) are placed along the x and y axes of the monitor’s glass plate.
The development of touchscreen opens a new era in human society and marks a big step in its progress. It is the achievement of the progress of science and technology, and strengthens our confidence in keeping on moving forward. As it develops step by step, the technology penetrates into more and more areas.
Multi Touch is a leading developer of interactive display systems, based on proprietary software and hardware designs. Multi touch displays are Full HD LCDs, stackable into any size table or wall and support multiuser environments. Software provides unlimited touch points, hand recognition, and object recognition on Windows, Linux and OS X. Multi Touch products are currently in use in more than 40 countries around the world. The products are designed for retail, exhibition, marketing, museum, public information, hospitality, research, education, art, design and other professional uses. George Harrison’s widow Olivia hopes to add more perspective on the reticent Beatle with her new digital book, and fill in the blanks left by Martin Scorsese’s recent documentary. Based on Scorsese’s “George Harrison: Living in the Material World,” the multi-touch book of the same name is available Tuesday on iBookstore. It includes audio, video material from the film along with personal photographs, letters, and memorabilia never seen by the public (a traditional print edition of the book has been in stores).
It’s obviously that the multi touch technology represents a giant leap and brings us lots of surprise. In modern times, everything develops at a striking speed. Of course, the touchscreen technology is of no exception. The appearance of the multi touch wall is the best proof of human wisdom.
Apple iPhone and Microsoft Surface have recently brought the multi touch wall technology into the spotlight, though research and development in connection with multi-touch have been around since the 80s. Our aim is to create a prototype through which we can research and develop new modes of users’ interaction. These interfaces have a great transforming potential for larger scale collaborative public interfaces, as well as for cell phones. This technology has been in the spotlight in the recent months as several products have claimed some sort of authorship about it, even touch research about multi touch has been around for decades.
If we say that the multi touch technology is a great leap for human beings, then the multi touch wall again give us a big surprise. It is the achievements of human labor and wisdom and it is human intelligence that creates miracles again and again. The rapid development of science and technology brings our human beings into a whole new world. And we have to marvel at the creativity of human beings. As we all know, the modern society is a fast paced society. One who keeps on updating his brain, then he will be succeeded and not fall behind. In conclusion, we strongly believe that our future will be better and better.

Human society has undergone a long history and now is in modern society. Thanks for the rapid development of science and technology so that we have the chance to enjoy the achievements of modern culture. Nowadays we human beings strongly advocate science and arm ourselves with science. Science is so powerful that it makes immeasurable contributions to our society. With the development of science, more and more advanced things have been developed and serve for our society and our daily life. As the economy grows rapidly, our living standard gets greatly improved and it’s natural for us to require for higher quality of life. Let’s take the new technology
touchscreen as an example.
A touchscreen is an electronic visual display that can detect the presence and location of a touch within the display area. The term generally refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or hand. Touchscreens can also sense other passive objects, such as a stylus. Touchscreens are common in devices such as game consoles, all-in-one computers, tablet computers, and smartphones.
As we all know, touchscreen, which does not confined to its original function, now has been applied to various areas and show strong vitality. With further development of science and technology, more advanced technology and products are sure to be developed. The following is news about multi touch which contributes a lot for entertainment.
NEW YORK & HONG KONG, May 02, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Possible Worldwide, a WPP Digital company, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) announced today the launch of the world’s most advanced, multi touch racing experience with the introduction of the IBU interactive gaming table. Debuting at the Club’s adrenaline bar and lounge at Hong Kong’s iconic Happy Valley racecourse, the IBU utilizes an elegant mix of technology, user-interface design and industrial design to create a seamless and social betting experience for up to eight racing fans. It’s been an honor to have been selected by The Hong Kong Jockey Club to create this important endeavor. “PWW has been a phenomenal partner in helping us realize our vision with the interactive racing entertainment table, now named as IBU,” said Scarlette Leung, Business Lead of the IBU Experience Innovation and Director of Corporate Business Planning and Programme Management of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. “IBU, which stands for ‘Interactive Best for U’ is a key part of an integrated racing experience for the leisure and novice customer, providing a social and relaxed environment for enjoying the excitement of the sport.”
We are glad that we make a big leap again from the touchscreen to multi touch, while it’s not the end of the technology. We have not stopped the step to explore the better ones. Multi touch wall make us realize another leap on the technology. Recently multi touch wall large quantities of attention of us.
The technology
multi touch wall has been in the spotlight in the recent months as several products have claimed some sort of authorship about it, even tough research about multi touch has been around for decades. Components can be obtained easily and at little cost, and one can easily build a small prototype from them. The touch of fingers on the surface is tracked by infrared light, which is transmitted through a camera and processed by a computer. The use of the technology is as simple as handling a touch screen, or even simpler with the help of this new kind of intuitive interaction.
From touchscreen to
multi touch technology to multi touch wall, we human beings do really make outstanding achievements than before. If you like follow fashion, you can like these products. If you want more fun, you will choose multi touch products. These products can bring you more than you imagine. Maybe we live away from the originality. In fact, we can’t leave away the originality, what does originality exactly means, I think originality embodies the combination of science and art, in other words, it means applying the science technology to the aesthetic design in our lives. Fortunately, the science makes it possible, some people have experienced the magical feeling of 3D, and this is the example that while our hand were approaching the multi touch wall, the realistic environment and the magical feeling was science brings to us.
GroundFX systems have become a very popular form of interactive exhibit for science centres, museums, and other visitor centres. They have also become very popular for aquariums who create interactive simulations of ponds, rivers, and lakes. GestureTek created a custom mountain pond application for the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Very specific fish common to that area were animated, and visitors stepping onto the interactive “water” would create ripples that made the fish scatter away. This has become a very popular exhibit as children enjoy trying to touch the illusive interactive fish. Because no technology is ever touched, this system can withstand enormous amounts of interactive visitors, with no risk of breaking anything!
Many universities and colleges are trying to help students launch start-up businesses by creating digital media centers to facilitate the development of applications and business models, a project with which GestureTek is honoured to be associated. The University of Waterloo has created what it calls “FELT Labs” for its Research Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP) in co-ordination with Quarry Marketing, and have furnished it with a 60″ multi touch GestDisplay kiosk and The Cube. This is a special honour for GestureTek as co-founders Vincent John Vincent and Francis MacDougall first came up with the idea that would become video gesture control technology while attending the University of Waterloo in the mid-1980’s.
The National Council of Science of India has been an ongoing GestureTek client for over 12 years. Their mandate is to facilitate the running and development of museums and science centres in India, and to that end GestureTek is called on to deliver a number of GestureXtreme systems throughout India each year. GestureXtreme has become a staple attraction in those facilities, as the public simply loves them: they are always crowded with people jumping in front of the monitors to be immersed on the screen in educational animated worlds and games. The fact that they can get quite active interacting with the animation and sounds but never need to touch anything is great for the facilities as nothing gets broken. GestureTek has delivered well over 40 GestureXtreme systems to the National Council of Science over the years, and in recent years has also been delivering GestureFX systems with much success.
GestureTek President and co-CEO Vincent John Vincent was honoured to be invited to speak at IdeaCity 2011 in Toronto. Each year this 3-day event brings together the world’s top leaders in a vast array of topics to discuss current and future trends. Other speakers this year included Walt Mossberg of The multi touch Wall Street Journal and Deepak Chopra. Vincent spoke of his and Francis MacDougall’s drive to create a computer interface technology that would help us become more embodied, in the invention of video gesture control back in 1986 and its development since then. Vincent also spoke of how their invention of combining video gesture control with 3D depth cameras since 2000 (the technology now popularized in Kinect) will change the world in the future. IdeaCity is the brainchild of host Moses Znaimer, one of the world’s top television & media innovators. Znaimer commissioned GestureTek’s first installation back in 1987 and has been a big supporter and advisor to Vincent and MacDougall over the years.
As one of the inventors and pioneers of multi touch technology GestureTek has been delivering multi touch tables and walls since 2002. Besides having robust standard multi touch turnkey solutions, one thing that has allowed GestureTek to stand out is the ability to customize solutions of all sizes and shapes with its flexible multi touch technology, for clients around the world. ZedBuffer is a Melbourne-based new and interactive digital media production company who has worked with GestureTek before, this time the collaborating on a system in the Water for Life exhibition at the Warragamba Dam Visitors’ Centre outside of Sydney. They wanted to create an interactive display to engage a large number of visitors interested in the dam and the water catchment, achieved with a custom-developed multi touch tracking system based on GestureTek’s Illuminate series technology.
It is obvious that the focus of the developers of touchscreen is technology, it is technology that promote the development of touchscreen to let its functions richer and diversified. Since the multi touch technology appeared, there is a revolution that happened on the touchscreen, and most people have felt its magical power while they have the immersed sense during the course of experiencing the realistic virtual world. And we have to sigh with emotion that the importance of science is significant, we are fortunate to live in these times. Are you ready to follow the fashion? Are you ready to choose on of them?

In the society, every company wants to gain great profit, so they take actions to produce the products. The energy consumption is unavoidable that with the high demand for industrial production and economical benefit. So we should come up with a method that make the energy conservation, the economic development and have it both ways. In the London, UK, the ministries planed to install the energy-busting traffic lights which apply led t8 light as its primary lighting appliance on the highroads where is the most vulnerable place to pollution. This test got a big success that its energy consumption reduced the most while its time of duration is 10 times of the traditional lights.
The Mayor of London has announced that Transport for London (TfL) is to install “energy-busting” LEDs at 3,500 traffic lights at around 300 junctions in the city.
The reason, according to TfL, is that LED technology reduces electricity consumption— and the associated CO2 emissions that cause climate change—by a massive 60 per cent. For this reason this reason, the led tube lamps will be widely used.
These 300 new LED-equipped junctions will save 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year and around £200,000 in energy costs. LED lamps will replace the existing bulbs at 3,500 traffic signal heads, each of which currently contain at least three bulbs.
This introduction of LED traffic lights is claimed to be the largest of its kind in the UK. TfL is seeking to stimulate the development of LED traffic signals and to encourage more manufacturers to join the market.
It is expected that there will be a greater take-up across the UK as a result of TfL’s commitment to introducing the lights in large numbers.
The new lights are part of the Mayor’s efforts to reduce the Capital’s CO2 emissions by a total of 60 per cent by 2025.
Reducing emissions
The initiative follows the introduction of LED lighting at all London Buses roadside ticket machines and LED lighting at 3,500 solar powered bus stops (to provide illumination for the stop and signage) and 640 shelters – see News.
If LED lights are installed in all of London’s 6,000 junctions which have traffic signals, CO2 emissions could be reduced by around 12,000 tonnes a year.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said “I’ve seen the future and it comprises these tip-top, energy-busting traffic lights. Installing these eco-bulbs will cut the climate change emissions coming from London’s galaxy of traffic lights by over half, as well as saving money from energy bills.”
“We are pressing ahead to get many more of these illuminating orbs on to our streets to join a range of other energy-zapping measures already saving us money such as solar-powered bus stops and shelters.” [Editor’s note: yes folks, the Mayor of London really does talk like this!]
TfL is leading the way with LED T8 tube light trials, which it hopes will pave the way for their wider introduction across the UK. LED product designs and costs have rapidly improved dramatically in recent years and initial barriers specific to the requirements of the UK market are being overcome ahead of the installation in London next year.
TfL ran a small-scale trial of LED traffic lights in Croydon between January 2007 and August 2008. These trials demonstrated that a product suitable for the UK marketplace, with reduced power consumption and at a reasonable price was feasible.
Alan Bristow, Director of Traffic Operations, TfL said: ‘These new lights will not only cut CO2 emissions but they will also last about ten times longer than standard bulbs, meaning we will save on maintenance costs.
‘This is part of our efforts across TfL to cut CO2 emissions. On top of introducing new hybrid buses to London’s streets, we are currently exploring new technologies including more efficient led Tube station and tunnel lighting.”
Transport for London has issued an OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) notice seeking companies to supply and fit the lights. The application period closes on 24 August. The scheme is being funded through TfL’s Climate Change Fund.
The energy consumption reduced remarkably after the replacement of existing lamps with led tube lamps. So to speak, it’s just a small-scale project, but its influence is great. What is worth mentioning that these lamps are the green bulbs, so it can eliminate the CO2 emission? The London government conducted this project, with the cooperation of each party, such as led tube suppliers, finally achieve the best result. Later, such like subways, tunnels in London and even other cities would imitate it, and we will get delightful result by the moment. The government will take their efforts to do better for the installation of the products.

In the past, all people dream touchscreen products. Then the manufactures contribute to their life to create the 3D technology. The fiction films can meet people. So, with the rapid development of technology, new type of Multi-Touch ,Touchscreen technology imports in table computers, mobile phones and science. It is no longer limited to science and technology in the movie.
People have long been used to use the mouse to control a computer screen, and now they can just use their fingers. To the user’s point of view, use your fingers on the screen directly operation is more accurate than use the mouse .Although this will let users spend more action and physical strength, however, they can get more fun. Touchscreen has many characters; do you know some of them? Now let me introduce them to you.
The first feature: Transparent, it directly affects the visual effect of the touch screen. Transparent have the level of the infrared technology touch screen and surface acoustic touch screen separated only in a layer of pure glass. It can calculate outstanding person, others will make deliberate. “Transparent”, on the touch screen industry just use a very broad concept, many layers of composite films, with transparent its visual effect is not enough, it should include at least four features: transparency, color distortion degree, reflective sex and clarity, still can then points, such as glance rate include mirror glance rate and diffraction glance rate, only touch screen surface diffraction reflective nothing at the extent of the CD, user is concerned, this measure has four basic enough.
The second feature: Touchscreen is absolutely coordinate system, and it should choose straight points, with this kind of the mouse, the relative positioning system is the essential difference between quantities in places. Absolutely coordinate system is characteristic of every positioning coordinate system and the last time positioning coordinate no relationship, touch screen in physics is a set of independent coordinate positioning system. Every time the feeling of data through the calibration data into the screen coordinates, it requires the touch screen coordinates. No matter what circumstances, the same point is that the output data is stable. If there are not stable, they can’t assure coordinate location. This is also the most serious problem.
The third characteristics: all kinds of touch screen technology are depending on their sensors to work; even some touch screen itself is a set of sensors. The only application I was really missing on my Windows Phone was “Angry Birds,” and that showed up recently. (Unlike with Android phones, Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) worked on day one.) The only problem I have with this phone at the moment is that it is in beta, and so this version isn’t on my primary phone yet. I’m not the most patient guy in the world.
Table computers with touchscreen are evolving from consumption to creation devices
Today,so many people look for jobs to support their family or lovers. But they should not forget the entertainment in their life. It is obvious that the funny life should be with the aid of science and technology, take a small case for the example, when you and your friends were about to play video games, but you may couldn’t start for lack of game players, if several persons can play on the same game player simultaneously, the problem will be solved, it should be possible for several persons to click the procedures on the touchscreen simultaneously.
Along with the spread of smart phone, people seem to have seen the power of science that affects our lives. It can hardly imagine what our lives will be if without the science. The appearance of multi touch technology is the best proof, it can combine with the 3D technology to represent us the attractive and realistic world, if you don’t know this feeling, you can be a user to experience the multi touch wall, and you must feel its magic. So let’s pray we have so many excellent computer scientist, movie makers, it’s they make us see multi technology world.
